With the fourth season finale of TV show “Game of Thrones” behind us, here are seven things litigators can learn from the Machiavellian machinations of those jockeying for power in the Seven Kingdoms. (Don’t worry: I’m not giving away information from the season finale if you haven’t seen it yet.)
1. A warrior must know himself. In the first season, dwarf Tyrion Lannister advises the illegitimate Jon Snow to know both his strengths and weaknesses: “My mind is my weapon. My brother has his sword, King Robert has his war hammer, and I have my mind.” Later, he cautions Snow, “Never forget what you are. Others will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.”
