A federal judge in New Jersey has given a green light to a False Claims Act suit alleging that Quest Diagnostics illegally gives doctors inducements to use its laboratory services.
The relator, Pennsylvania physician James Judd, claims that Quest routinely induces doctors to refer Medicare and Medicaid patients to the company by handing out free medical and office supplies and offering deeply discounted prices on tests paid for by private insurance companies.
