E-discovery goes Hollywood! Well, not quite yet. But the road to California often starts at film festivals. And on May 31, Joe Looby’s “Decade of Discovery” will premiere in Middletown, N.Y., at the Hoboken International Film Festival, followed by a June 21 showing at the Manhattan Film Festival.
Documentary filmmaker Looby didn’t take the traditional road to the film festival circuit, although he did study theater and economics at Fordham before heading to Albany Law School. Looby served in the U.S. Navy’s Judge Advocate General Corps and practiced as an environmental enforcement attorney for New York state, he noted in his LinkedIn profile. “Along the way I learned to program computers, became a patented software inventor, and was a founder of forensic technology practices at Deloitte and FTI [Consulting],” he wrote. His company is 10th Mountain Films, named in honor of his father, who served in the 10th Mountain Division, a U.S. Army ski patrol that fought in World War II, he told LTN.
