Both Squire Sanders and Patton Boggs continue to make hires amid their ongoing merger talks, which sibling publication The Blog of Legal Times reported Friday appear headed toward a resolution with partners at the latter firm set to vote on a tie-up in the days ahead.

Patton Boggs, which has shrunk its operations over the past 18 months to the point that it now has fewer than 200 partners, recently added former Greenberg Traurig partner BRENDA CUBBAGE as a litigation of counsel in Dallas. (The firm did suffer the loss of one nonlawyer this week: veteran senior policy adviser Michael Drobac, a seasoned nonlawyer lobbyist in the media and telecommunications arena who joined the firm in 2012 and has now left for archrival Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.)
