A minority owner of two major Philadelphia daily newspapers has been let out of a defamation case filed by Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus P. McCaffery and his chief aide, Lise Rapaport, while the remaining defendants argued in filings that the complaint didn’t allege any false reporting by the newspapers.
McCaffery and Rapaport, who are married, asked the court Wednesday to let Intertrust GCN out of the case that has alleged The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and its owners defamed the couple and portrayed them in a false light by publishing articles on referral fees Rapaport accepted from law firms while working as an aide in McCaffery’s chambers.
