MetLife’s director of the global privacy office, Harry Valetk, is stepping down after almost seven years and joining Baker & McKenzie as counsel. Valetk has worked in the privacy and data protection field for more than 15 years, advising government, entertainment and financial services sectors. He now joins the Chicago-based firm’s global privacy and North America international commercial practices.

“Data protection and privacy issues continue to be a top concern for our clients,” said partner Brian Hengesbaugh, in a statement. “Harry is well-equipped to support multinational companies that are grappling with the complex issues and risks associated with collecting, using, storing and disclosing personal data.”
