Exelon Corp. turned to Kirkland & Ellis in its $6.8 billion purchase of Pepco Holdings Inc., and the two companies have tapped Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom to secure potentially tricky regulatory approval. Sullivan & Cromwell and Covington & Burling served as legal counsel to Pepco.

Headquartered in Chicago, Exelon has operations and business activities in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. The Pepco purchase, which also includes Atlantic City Electric and Delmarva Power, will make Exelon the largest power-distribution company in the United States, according to Reuters.
