In many ways, the race between Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kelly Lee and her opponent in the May 20 election, Patricia “Pat” Jackson, is a classic down-ticket political contest: a well-funded incumbent hoping to beat back a challenger campaigning on shoe leather and a shoestring.

Even before a fundraiser Tuesday at Lee’s former firm, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, Lee was significantly outpacing Jackson in fundraising: As of April 2, Lee reported having raised $62,665, with $56,557 remaining on hand. (Lee’s campaign chairman, Womble partner Robert Ambler Jr., did not respond to queries as to how much was raised at the Tuesday event.)
