Study Shows Uptick in Securities Class Action Settlements

The number of securities class action settlements rose roughly 18 percent between 2012 and 2013—the first year-over-year increase since 2009—while the amount of money changing hands in such settlements increased 46 percent, to $4.8 billion, according to a report released Thursday by Cornerstone Research.
