The 14th Annual New Jersey Awards of Excellence to benefit the Thurgood Marshall College Fund were bestowed on March 13 at Nanina’s In The Park in Belleville. The honorees were: Adrianne Davis, co-founder and executive director, The North Ward Center in Newark; Patrick Dunican Jr., chairman and managing director, Gibbons; Kevin Marino, founder and principal, Marino, Tortorella & Boyle; U.S. District Judge Michael Shipp; and (posthumously) Philip Thigpen Sr., immediate past chairman, Essex County Democratic Committee. The awards recognize those who exemplify Justice Thurgood Marshall’s commitment to justice, civil rights and education. More than 300 guests attended the event, which was co-chaired by Anthony LaRocco of K&L Gates and Susan Feeney of McCarter & English and emceed by Pat Battle of WNBC-TV and Steven Adubato Jr.

Collins Leads Northwest N.J. Legal Services

Patrick Collins, a partner with Norris McLaughlin & Marcus in Bridgewater, has been elected president of the board of trustees of Legal Services of Northwest New Jersey, which serves Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren counties. Collins has served on the board for more than 20 years.
