A jury decided a fiery garbage truck that burned the driver was not negligently designed or manufactured.

Keith Kleparek, then 42, was operating a 1995 Ford LNT900 garbage truck in Polk County when the fire erupted, causing second- and third-degree burns on over 75 percent of his body, including his face, ears, head, and upper and lower body. He alleged the truck’s engine cover was defective because it was made of polyurethane instead of steel or other metal.
