The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday began shaping its docket for next term, agreeing to hear new cases in the fall on government accommodation of religion, juror dishonesty and securities fraud.

The court granted review in five new cases, all of which will be argued in the term beginning in October because the court has already filled its argument docket for the current term. The justices were on the bench as usual on Monday, defying the virtual shutdown of the rest of official Washington caused by a significant snowstorm.
