Clint Smith has joined San Mateo’s DataStax Inc. as its first general counsel. Smith previously led the legal departments at UUNET, Macromedia, MySQL and TrialPay. In 2008, as general counsel at MySQL, he helped lead the company through its $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems. The company helps customers including eBay, Netflix and Adobe harness real-time data for business applications and has raised a total of $84 million in venture funding. See story online.
Santa Clara visual computing company Nvidia Corp. promoted longtime GC David Shannon to the newly created post of chief administrative officer. Brian Cabrera, now the GC at semiconductor design software company Synopsys Inc., will assume the GC title at Nvidia in February. See story online.
