A promotion in the P.H. Glatfelter Company legal department is giving new meaning to the term “paper chase.” Kent Matsumoto has been named general counsel at the York, Pa.–based company, which produces a variety of specialty paper and fiber-based engineered products, from coffee filters and envelopes to wall coverings.

Matsumoto, who was elevated to the GC position in October, now oversees the company’s six-person legal department. He started at Glatfelter as assistant general counsel and chief compliance officer. Matsumoto says that he’s “delighted” to be moving up within the company, as he has developed a real attachment to its core values and practices.
