Lawyers for a trucking company were at the Georgia Court of Appeals on Wednesday, fighting what’s been called the largest wrongful death verdict in the state’s history.

In the balance is a $40 million verdict awarded by a Cobb County jury to a widow of a businessman killed in a traffic accident—an unusually high verdict for an award that didn’t include any punitive damages. The trucking company also is fighting an award of about $14 million in attorney fees and expenses.
