SAN FRANCISCO — The legal odyssey of David Nosal, whose computer hacking case has ensnared 16 district and appellate judges since he was indicted in 2008, will soon come to a close—at least until the appeal.

At a sentencing hearing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Edward Chen is expected to decide how long the fallen corporate recruiter should spend behind bars and whether he should have to cover his former employer’s nearly $1 million legal bill. A San Francisco jury in April found Nosal guilty of violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and stealing trade secrets from Korn/Ferry International.
