George Lombardi

A St. Louis jury deliberated just 45 minutes in August 2012 before handing Winston & Strawn's George Lombardi and Monsanto Company a
$1 billion verdict in a dispute with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company over the technology behind herbi-cide-resistant crops. Lombardi's penchant for artful cross-examinations also helped Teva Pharmaceutical Industries defeat infringement claims from Bristol-Myers Squibb over a Hepatitis B drug in 2012. The judge wrote that Lombardi extracted "powerful admissions" from an expert that
"severely undercut BMS' arguments."
