After a bitter six-year battle, Latham & Watkins won a case for the United States Soccer Federation that threatened the organization’s power to govern the sport.

U.S. Soccer tapped Latham to defend a federal suit filed by Championsworld, a bankrupt group that promoted international exhibition soccer matches. Since its founding in 1913, U.S. Soccer has represented the United States on soccer’s world governing body and presided over domestic leagues ranging from Major League Soccer to youth amateur leagues.
