Real estate lawyer Ricky Yiu is moving over from Baker & McKenzie, where he was also a partner. He is expected to start at Mayer Brown JSM, the Hong Kong-based Asia arm of Mayer Brown, early next year.
Yiu specializes in property matters in Hong Kong, China and Macau, including acquisitions, joint ventures and project finance. He will work with Mayer Brown JSM Hong Kong partner Peter Ho on real estate finance and investment transactions, as well as property-related private equity deals.
A lawyer at Baker & McKenzie since 1994, Yiu joined the firm as an associate and became a partner in 2003. He began his legal career as a trainee at Hong Kong firm Deacons.
Mayer Brown JSM will have about 175 lawyers in Hong Kong when Yiu joins the team, including 57 partners, according to the firm’s website. Chicago-based Mayer Brown has 1,457 lawyers in 22 offices worldwide.
