Rouse Opens Myanmar Office
Intellectual property firm Rouse has become the first British firm to open a branch office in Myanmar.
The office currently has two lawyers. Partner and Thailand country manager Fabrice Mattei will split his time between Bangkok and Yangon and run the Myanmar office. Myanmar attorney Moe Mynn Thu joins the team from Myanmar Brewery Ltd., a Myanmar-Thai joint venture where he was in-house counsel.
Rouse’s Myanmar practice will focus on prosecution work for trademarks, patents, designs and geographic indications. The team will also handle IP portfolio management and commercialization, including technology transfer.
Rouse chief executive Luke Minford said the firm has already managed IP for over 50 clients in Myanmar, and establishing a base will allow it to deliver on-the-ground service to the clients.
London-headquartered Rouse has Asia offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Manila, Jakarta, Dubai, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon.
