Hong Kong's Deacons Adds Capital Markets Partner
Hong Kong firm Deacons has added a partner to its capital markets practice.
Kevin Tong, previously a partner in the Hong Kong office of King & Wood Mallesons, specializes in offshore renminbi transactions, popularly known as dim sum bonds. In 2010, he advised McDonald's Corp. on a $31 million dim sum bond offering in Hong Kong.
He also advises on derivatives and other structured financial products including equity-linked investments and convertible bonds.
Tong joined the former Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 2011 from Simmons & Simmons, where he was a consultant. Before 2008, he was a managing associate in Linklaters’ Hong Kong capital markets group.
Deacons has around 200 lawyers, including 53 partners, in total. In addition to Hong Kong, it also has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
