Delaware legal sources say that Supreme Court Justice Carolyn Berger, Delaware Court of Chancery Chancellor Leo E. Strine Jr., Superior Court President Judge James T. Vaughn Jr. and Superior Court Judge Jan R. Jurden are the four candidates who have applied to become the Delaware Supreme Court’s next chief justice.
Current state Supreme Court Justices Jack B. Jacobs, Randy J. Holland and Henry duPont Ridgely were considered early favorites to apply for the position but did not submit applications. All candidates were required to have their applications submitted to the state’s Judicial Nominating Commission by noon Tuesday.
