ALBANY – The New York State Bar Association has shelved the revised commentary on pro bono goals for New York lawyers to protest the imposition of higher standards and to consider legal action against the new rules.

The House of Delegates, the 77,000-member state bar’s policy-setting body, took the unusual step of voting down a revision of the commentary to inform lawyers of their obligations under the pro bono changes made to Rule 6.1 of the Rules of Professional Conduct earlier this year.
