Jack Nelson has spent the better part of the last year and a half working in London. It’s a career turn few, including Nelson, could have foreseen in 2002, when he was a partner with what was then Crosby, Heafey, Roach & May in Oakland.

“I don’t think we were going to be opening in London anytime soon,” said Nelson, who helped put together a merger of Crosby and Reed Smith 10 years ago. Today, as U.S. integration partner at Reed Smith, Nelson connects U.S.-based lawyers with colleagues across the Atlantic to better pursue client pitches and lateral prospects.
