More than 120 general counsel, compliance officers and senior executives are poised to convene in Miami next week for a U.S.-Latin America legal summit on cross-border business.
The daylong event, co-sponsored by ALM, the parent of the Daily Business Review, the law firm Akerman Senterfitt and the University of Miami School of Law among others comes as nations such as Brazil and Mexico are deregulating their energy industries and inviting foreign participation in oil exploration. Legal disputes arising from nations such as Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela are fueling a spike in litigation and international arbitration cases.
