Richmond-based Am Law 200 firm LeClairRyan expanded its health care law capabilities with the acquisition of 11-attorney health care boutique Adelman, Sheff & Smith.

Based in Annapolis, Adelman Sheff also has attorneys in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Joining LeClair as shareholders are S. ALLAN ADELMAN, TIMOTHY ADELMAN, RONALD SHEFF, MICHELE SMITH, MELISSA THOMPSON and MICHAEL VON DIEZELSKI; partners CHRISTOPHER ADELMAN and KRISTIN BOHL; senior counsel LEWIS MORRIS; and two associates.

The group’s clients include large health systems, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, nursing homes, large physician practices, and individual health care providers. As sibling publication Corporate Counsel notes, the acquisition is the latest example of firms expanding their ability to advise on issues related to the Affordable Care Act.

“Our clients will significantly benefit from their decades of experience and in-depth understanding of health care law and regulation as it pertains to hospitals, health systems and other health providers,” LeClairRyan CEO David Freinberg said in a press release announcing the combination.

With the new additions, LeClairRyan has 344 attorneys.
