K&L Gates has added an energy partner to its Perth office.
Alex Eastwood, most recently the general counsel of Australian gold miner Gryphon Minerals, focuses on corporate finance and other transactions in the resources and mining sectors. During his role at Gryphon Minerals, he advised the company on the approval and funding of the Banfora gold project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Eastwood joined Gryphon last year from another general counsel position at mining equipment maker Imdex. From 2007 to 2011, he was a director at Perth stock research company Blackswan Equities. Prior to that, Eastwood was a senior legal counsel at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia’s chief government science agency.
