Freshfields Helps BC Partners Cram for $4.4 Billion Academic Publishing Deal

The European private equity firm has agreed to pay $4.4 billion to acquire Berlin-based academic publisher Springer Science & Business Media from majority owners EQT Partners and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. German firm Hengeler Mueller, U.K. firm Simmons & Simmons, and Clifford Chance are among the other firms called upon for the deal.
