HWL Ebsworth has recruited four new construction partners for its Melbourne and Sydney offices.

Andrew Pitney has left Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where he was partner-in-charge in Melbourne. He had been a partner with the firm for 13 years.

Specializing in construction and infrastructure matters, Pitney advised the state-owned NBN Co. Ltd. on its ten-year, $36.5 billion National Broadband Network project in the run-up to its initial rollout in 2011. He will remain in Melbourne with HWL Ebsworth.

Also joining the firm are Herbert Geer Sydney-based partners Paul Deschamps, Alex Robinson, and Andrew Buchanan. Deschamps and Robinson have joined the firm’s building and construction group, while Buchanan has joined the property team. They have brought with them a team of 14 lawyers.

Deschamps arrived at Herbert Geer as a partner in 2008, and had worked for Clayton Utz in the past. Robinson, who specializes in construction-related litigation, had been with the firm as a partner since 2010. Buchanan, also a partner during his time at Herbert Geer, joined in late 2009 and focused his practice on property developments and acquisitions.

HWL Ebsworth employs about 470 lawyers, including 148 partners, in five offices in Australia.*
