Comic Maher Goes Ape Over Cooley-Repped Trump's Simian Sex Suit

, The Am Law Daily

"The legal system in this country is not a toy for rich idiots to play with," Bill Maher said Friday night on his HBO show in response to a $5 million lawsuit Donald Trump filed against him after the provocative comic jokingly challenged Trump to prove he isn't "the spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan." Cooley litigation partner Scott Balber, a recent lateral hire from Chadbourne & Parke with a history of advising the real estate mogul, is representing Trump in the suit.

It is about time that someone decided to teach Bill Maher a lesson in ethics. His language on the air at the behest of HBO is rude and degrading. Young children can easily llisten to his diatribes on people who popular but average citizens who have no criminal history does nothing for young America.

Now let's see how this plays out in the Court system. HBO will probably pick up the entire tab.

It seems to me that it's the orangutans who should be most offended. What did they do to deserve being linked to a bufoon like Trump?

Trump reminds me of "Psycho" in "Stripes."

Psycho: "The name's Francis Soyer, but everybody calls me Psycho. Any of you guys call me Francis, and I'll kill you."
    Leon: "Ooooooh."
Psycho: "You just made the list, buddy. And I don't like nobody touching my stuff. So just keep your meat-hooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you. Also, I don't like nobody touching me. Now, any of you homos touch me, and I'll kill you."
    Sergeant Hulka: "Lighten up, Francis."

I guess Mr. Maher isn't used to playing with the big boys we can fight back.

As much as I don't like Trump and his antics, Maher's comments were beyond repulsive.

In my view, he made an offer - which was accepted - he ought to pay in accordance with his offer. It was he - not Trmup - that raised the ludicrous notion of inter-species procreation. He ought to live with the results and cough the money up to the charities.

Apparently, America's lawyers are a sharper bunch than America's "top" comics.

  • Dissident

I am 180 degrees from Maher politically but I am cheering him on against the Donald and his humorless white shoe legal team. (The publicity Maher will get from this blunder by Trump is invaluable.) This is a good example of the maxim: "When the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail." Or, as Brer Rabbit's said, "Oh please Brer Fox, whatever you do, please don't throw me into the briar patch."

Certainly there has to be something left out from the facts of the suit. I cannot think of any other fathomable reason for Cooley LLP to go after a breach of contract case in this situation. The tone and context of which Maher make these accusations can stand alone and failure for true contract formation.
