Alston & Bird’s Washington, D.C., office now counts KIM PERETTI as a partner. A former prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice, Peretti joins Alston from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she oversaw cyber investigations. Peretti has expertise in data breach investigations, information security, corporate compliance, and cyber law.
Former professional football player RICHARD DAVIS has brought his sports practice to the Birmingham office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, which he joins as of counsel. Davis, who advises coaches on employment and endorsement agreements, played football for the University of Alabama as well as the Cincinnati Bengals. For the past two years, Daviswho joins along with a sports marketing coordinatorhad his own firm in Florida.
Bracewell & Giuliani is making a push in London, announcing this week the hire of two local energy lawyers. JULIAN NICHOL will join from Simmons & Simmons, where he was a partner, in March, and ALASTAIR YOUNG, previously a senior associate with Herbert Smith Freehills, is set to join in April. Both will join Bracewell as partners, with Nichol serving as the office head.
Two partners and one associate have jumped from Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice to Bradley Arant Boult Cummings’s Washington, D.C., office. The new partners are JOHN PARKER SWEENEY, whose practice focuses on class action and tort litigation, and SKY WOODWARD, a specialist in real estate, environmental, and commercial litigation.
Data protection lawyer MONIKA KUSCHEWSKY was hired by Covington & Burling as a special counsel residing in the firm’s Brussels office. Kuschewsky’s experience focuses on international data transfers, outsourcing, and direct marketing. She was last with Brussels-based Van Bael & Bellis, where she was a partner.
PHILIP RETTIG, an intellectual property lawyer, has joined Dickinson Wright’s Troy, Michigan, office as a member. Rettig’s practice focuses on patents, trademarks, and copyrights related to the automotive industry. He last worked at intellectual property firm Harness, Dickey & Pierce.
DLA Piper has hired YU JIN TAY as a partner to cochair its global international practice out of the firm’s Singapore office. As reported by sibling publication The Asian Lawyer, prior to his move Tay was the head of the Asia international group at Shearman & Sterling. In New York, DLA also hired JOSEPH FORTE as a partner in the real estate group. Most recently with Alston & Bird, Forte specializes in real estate finance.
Drinker Biddle & Reath has bolstered its insurance regulatory department with new of counsel ELDA FELDMAN. Previously with Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti, Feldman is based in New Jersey.
RAFAEL PEREZ is moving to Edwards Wildman Palmer as a partner in the public finance group. Based in Madison, New Jersey, Perez specializes in public finance for financial institutions and state agencies. He was last a partner at Cozen O’Connor, where he cochaired the firm’s public and project finance department.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is strengthening its Hong Kong office with a former Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe partner, WILLIAM WOO, The Asian Lawyer reports. Joining as a partner, Woo will focus on capital markets, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions matters.
Trusts and estates lawyer MARTIN LEPELSTAT has moved from the partnership of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis to Greenberg Traurig, where he joins the Florham Park, New Jersey office as a shareholder. Lepelstat represents high-net-worth individuals as well as businesses in tax matters and trusts and estates planning.
GARY SCHOENBRUN is the latest addition at Herrick, Feinstein. Schoenbrun joins the New York office as a partner and cochair of the firm’s tax and personal planning group. For more than 10 years, Schoenbrun practiced with Dickstein Shapiro, where he was a partner.
In Seattle, PAUL ECHOHAWK has joined the Native American affairs team at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton as counsel. EchoHawk, who previously ran his own law firm, represents tribal governments in issues including jurisdiction disputes, environmental law, water rights, land use regulations, and tribal codes.
Korean lawyer MIN HO LEE has lateraled to Mayer Brown’s Washington, D.C., office. Last with Korean law firm Lee & Ko, Lee handles international arbitrations involving banking and financial services, joint ventures, intellectual property, and other issues.
ROBERT COHEN has left Greenberg Traurig, where he was a shareholder, for McDermott Will & Emery. A partner in the New York office, Cohen brings his experience in representing issuers and underwriters in a wide range of transactions. Another recent addition to McDermott is MATTHIAS KAMPSHOFF, who joins the firm’s Düsseldorf office as a partner. Kampshoff will be working with the restructuring and insolvency practice, focusing on German bankruptcy matters. He was previously a partner at Taylor Wessing.
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough announced the arrival of STEVEN DYER as of counsel. Hired from Stevens & Lee, Dyer specializes in insurance and insurance-related corporate matters and is based in the Charleston office.
Perkins Coie made a pair of hires this week. In Washington, D.C., MARK ECKENWILER joins the firm as senior counsel in the privacy and security practice. Eckenwiler last held a position with the Office of Enforcement Operations, a part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s criminal division, where he oversaw federal law enforcement applications for Internet wiretap orders and advised on surveillance law and policy. In Chicago, Perkins Coie has added senior counsel JEFFREY TERRY to its private equity group. Terry last worked as of counsel at Paul Hastings.
