King & Spalding has nabbed Silicon Valley heavyweight JUDY O’BRIEN to help expand the firm’s Redwood Shores, California office. O’Brien spent two decades at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati before leaving in 2001 to co-found a venture capital fund, Incubic. She later went in-house at mobile payments company Obopay. Most recently, O’Brien launched her own consulting firm, Laurel Advisers, which advised early-stage enterprises.

At King & Spalding, which she will join as a partner November 1, O’Brien will advise on a range of corporate assignments, including private equity and venture capital investments, initial and follow-on public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.
