After seeing a healthy uptick in hiring in July, the legal industry suffered an abrupt setback on the employment front last month, according to preliminary data released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

    am sure most of the lawyers that lost their jobs in this article were the low-ranking ones. i wonder how many of these jobs were held by the rank and file. mostly associates maybe? is this sign of the times? does this mean that it's the end of the road for most lawyers? or we just have too many lawyers that we can handle? at any rate, still sad when folks lose their job especially in this economy.

    It's going to be a tough decade for the legal industry, the outsourcing and other problems that have plagued other industries is now hitting the legal industry hard. In addition to the problems law schools are having, the debt load of students and the overall economy. It's going to a bad couple of years for many lawyers and would be lawyers.
