Morrison & Foerster has advised Japan’s Toshiba Tec Corp. on its buyout of the retail services division of International Business Machines Corp.

Under the terms of the $850 million deal, Tokyo-based Toshiba Tec, a maker of peripherals and retail electronics 50-percent owned by Toshiba Corp., will buy a division of IBM that makes retail scanners, bar-code machines, and cash registers.
