Simpson Thacher Scores $146 Million Judgment for BofA Unit

Last summer, lawyers for the Brazilian sugar giant Usinas Itamarati looked on as their witnesses self-destructed on the stand under cross-examination by Simpson Thacher partners Thomas Rice and William Russell, Jr. This week, a judge ruled that Itamarati owes $146 million to Simpson Thacher's client, Bank of America's Merrill Lynch Capital Services unit.
