For the Am Law Second Hundred as a group, 2014 was a year of modest financial growth. Average gross revenue increased 2.1 percent, while average revenue per lawyer and profits per partner also increased, rising 3.2 percent to $647,025 and 5 percent to $736,672, respectively.

Those results trailed The Am Law 100′s, where gross revenue grew 4.6 percent, while RPL and PPP increased 3.7 percent and 5.3 percent. But the Second Hundred, which is made up of the 101st to 200th highest-grossing law firms in the country, is a more disparate bunch than The Am Law 100. There are large national firms, such as Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, with 26 offices and more than 700 lawyers, as well as smaller regional firms and practice boutiques with fewer than 200 attorneys.
