News Corp. and its CEO, Rupert Murdoch, have dodged a proposed securities fraud class action over the company’s phone-hacking scandal—at least for the time being.

In a ruling issued on Monday, U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe in Manhattan dismissed without prejudice claims that News Corp hid the shady news-gathering practices from U.S. investors in violation of securities laws. Gardephe also threw out parallel claims against four News Corp. executives: Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch, Les Hinton and Rebekah Brooks.
