New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has retained a Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher team led by litigation cochair Randy Mastro to represent him in a series of inquiries focused on what role he and his aides may have played in a four-day traffic snarl that tied up traffic near the George Washington Bridge.

    Why is it so necessary to launch a full investigation into a matter when it is obvious that the event in question is an act orchestrated by subordinates who took it upon themselves to cause a disturbance? This is especially true when original denials by the guilty become admissions.
