Five months after the firm lured over Weil, Gotshal & Manges’ London banking practice head with an impressive pay package, Kirkland & Ellis has once again snatched some top private equity talent from Weil, this time in New York.

Kirkland said Tuesday that corporate partner Douglas Ryder is joining the firm to help it meet its clients’ increasing demand for M&A and private equity attorneys. The hire comes after Kirkland’s New York office lost a trio of private equity partners last winter, as Willkie Farr & Gallagher picked up Kirk Radke in December and McDermott Will & Emery nabbed Stephanie McCann and Leonard Klingbaum in February. Now also looming is the departure of San Francisco office founding partner David Breach for an in-house role at private equity client Vista Equity Partners, as first reported Monday by The Wall Street Journal.
