Continuing on its transactional tear, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom sat atop three separate rankings of legal advisers for global mergers and acquisitions deals based on total transaction value in the first three quarters of the year.

Skadden eclipsed its law firm brethren for the third time this year in the so-called league tables released by Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and Mergermarket, having successfully maintained its advantage from the first half of 2014, during which it worked on four of the biggest announced transactions for that period. Skadden’s representation of Merck KGaA on its $17 billion acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich Corp. in September helped it to hold onto its lead in the third quarter.
