It’s a good day when your client wins the Nobel Peace Prize. Last month Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft hailed its 17-year-old pro bono client, Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan, for winning this year’s prize for her global advocacy of girls’ education, making her the youngest-ever recipient.
The firm has represented Yousafzai since 2012, when it helped her negotiate and establish The Malala Fund while she was still hospitalized in England after an assassination attempt. “I am personally—and the firm is—deeply honored to have her as a client,” says David Miller, a tax partner who leads the firm’s not-for-profit pro bono incubator. “She is one of our firm’s youngest clients, and it is an amazing achievement for her, and truly humbling for us to help her even in a small way.”
