Among fans of the cartoonists who created Superman and famously sold off their rights to the character for peanuts in the 1930s, O'Melveny's Petrocelli is sometimes painted as a villain. But he's definitely a superhero to his client, Warner Brothers Entertainment, which is now tantalizingly close to fighting off nine-year-old copyright claims brought by the creators' heirs.
