A $940 million damages verdict that Jenner & Block’s Rick Richmond won in federal district court on April 15 for health care software company Epic Systems Corp. marks the largest ever in a trade secrets case. Jurors in Madison found that Indian outsourcing giant Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. improperly accessed Epic confidential documents, then used the information to develop a rival hospital management software program.
