Bell / NFL v. CRTC

The National Football League is taking the field in the fight over American Super Bowl ads on Canadian airwaves. On Aug. 7 the league was granted intervenor status in the battle between Bell Canada (and its corporate parent, Bell Media Inc.) and the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission over simultaneous substitution. Also known as “simsub,” the practice involves the swapping out of American television commercials for Canadian ones during the big game.
