Nearly a year after a human rights lawyer was imprisoned for writing an article critical of Swaziland’s chief justice, Hogan Lovells attorneys have taken up his cause, petitioning the United Nations to intervene in the case.

The Hogan Lovells attorneys, led by Marc Gott­ridge, co-chairman of the firm’s financial services litigation practice, have co-signed the petition with the International Commission of Jurists. It argues that Swaziland has violated international fair trial standards by convicting Thulani Maseko.
