The latest U.S. Supreme Court term represented another triumph for The Am Law 200, at least as far as dominating the high court docket is concerned. During the 2014-2015 term, which began the first Monday in October and ended June 30, the justices heard arguments in 67 cases. Of those, 42 featured a lawyer from an Am Law 200 firm. Put another way, nearly two out of three Supreme Court cases were argued by lawyers from Big Law.

Tony Mauro, who covers the court for our sibling publication The National Law Journal, recently tallied high court arguments by firms during the last term. Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr dominated. Former Solicitor General Seth Waxman, who leads Wilmer’s Supreme Court practice, and four other lawyers argued in eight cases at the court. As Mauro noted, Wilmer alone accounted for more than 10 percent of all of the cases argued at the high court this past term.
