It’s pure coincidence that we feature our lateral partner report in the February issue, which you receive a few weeks before Valentine’s Day, but the timing is perfect. This is Big Law’s season of dating, broken hearts and second (and third and fourth) marriages as near-record numbers of lateral partners have jumped from their firm into the longing arms of another.
Our annual survey shows a 7 percent increase in lateral moves over the previous year’s traffic, and the total of 2,736 is just shy of the high we reported five years ago, MP McQueen notes in this month’s cover story. And 2015 is on track to be an even bigger year for lateral action.
