DLA Piper’s former Asia corporate head has left to join Winston & Strawn in Hong Kong.

Mabel Lui has moved to the Chicago-based firm, where she has assumed the same role. She takes with her three other lawyers, one of which, senior associate Daniel Tang, has been promoted to partner at Winston & Strawn’s Hong Kong partner firm.

The team will focus on mergers and acquisitions, as well as general commercial and corporate matters in Hong Kong and China. Lui’s work also often includes real estate transactions in these jurisdictions.

Lui had been a partner at DLA Piper for 15 years, beginning in in 1999 when it merged with her firm Lui & Carey. She had launched Lui & Carey eight years earlier. Her career began with the former Johnson Stokes & Master in 1975.

Winston & Strawn now has about 20 lawyers, including seven partners, in Hong Kong. The firm employs 822 lawyers in 17 offices worldwide.
