A former partner who left to become U.S. ambassador is rejoining Jones Day as the firm’s Asia head.

Former Jones Day New York partner David Carden served for two years as the United States’ first ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Based in Jakarta, he worked on economic development, trade liberalization, intellectual property protection, rule of law and other issues in the region. Carden also offered advice on ASEAN’s planned move toward economic integration in 2015.
