K&L Gates has added an energy partner in Singapore.

Former Clayton Utz partner John King has joined the U.S. firm in Perth, and will relocate to Singapore at the end of the year.

King specializes in liquefied natural gas projects but advises on a range of oil and gas-related matters, acting for clients on the negotiation of production-sharing contracts, the purchase and sale of energy assets and offshore licensing issues. He has extensive project experience in Australia and Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Clayton Utz as a partner in 2011, King spent four years as senior legal counsel at Italian energy company Eni International Resources Ltd. He had made the move in-house from Corrs Chambers Westgarth, where he was a partner for three years, and before that worked for the former Denton Wilde Sapte in London and Vinson & Elkins in Houston.

According to K&L Gates’ website, the firm will have 14 lawyers, including six partners, when King arrives in Singapore later this year. The firm has 2,000 lawyers in 48 cities worldwide.
